NSW State Vertical School

 It will provide the opportunity for Leaders and Youth members to gain ScoutSkills and the skills and experience gained on the school might provide evidence to allow the award of Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation.  More advanced Youth and Leaders may be able to obtain recognition for Certificate III in Outdoor Leadership and appointments to Assistant Guide and Guide are possible. In addition, there is an opportunity to participant in the School as a photographer or a drone pilot. 

This school is for members 14 years old and above having attained minimum OAS 4 vertical

The school will run for 8 days and during that time, all participants will:

• Plan and do a day bushwalk in tracked to untracked terrain.
• Participate in Minors around abseiling (anchors, rescue skills, belaying) over 2 days
• Participate in one selected Major with your choices:  climbing, caving and canyoning. The major will be a journey with camping out at the activity location for two nights.

The cost for the school is anticipated to be $400 (to be confirmed).

To attend, you must supply a log book that includes details of your vertical activity and you must have achieved OAS Stage 3 in Vertical, though Stage 4 in Abseiling is expected.
