This activity is aimed to Venturers and senior Scouts with a bit of experience cycling.
You can choose to:
- stay at Blaxland Scout Hall on Saturday night 26/6/21 from 6 PM, or
- meet at Woodford Train Station at 9AM on Sunday.
You need to choose where you will meet us during the registration.
If you meet on Saturday, you need to bring your dinner, breakfast, sleeping mat, sleeping bag and your Opal card. We will stay in the hall overnight and ride to Blaxland Train Station to take the train to Woodford where we meet those arriving in the morning. Your overnight gear will be stored until after the ride.
The Oaks is mainly fire trails with low difficulty but long hills. You need to be self-sufficient with the food and water. Bring snacks, lunch, 1.5 litres of water and bike spares (at least one spare tube).
Scouts are required to bring their own 'serviced' bicycle, helmet, bike gloves and a spare tube. If you have eye protection, knees and elbow protection, they are recommended. Bring also tools and small bike pump if you have them.
Dress appropriately for the forecast of the day and activity (shoes, hat, sunglasses, long sleeves and suncream or rainjacket). It can be very cold.
The activity finishes at Glenbrook Train Station around 4pm.
Transport to the activity (either Blaxland or Woodford) and back is not part of the activity, therefore is up to the Venturers to arrange.
