Brief Summary:
The 1st Ermington Scout Group is organising this Woy Woy to Cowan 3 Days, 2 Night hike to support a Scout completing her Adventurous Journey for the Australian Scout Award during the October Labour Day long weekend. This activity is planned and led by a youth working for the Peak Award. The activity will start from and end at West Ryde Station.
Additional Information

Starting from the West Ryde Station, the Scouts will first travel by train to Woy Woy Station. From there, we will walk to the the Brisbane National Park. We will then make our way to the peak of Mount Wonderbyne where awe-inspiring vistas of the entire region will greet us.

We will spend the first night at the Rocky Pools Campsite.

Next morning we will walk along the Midway Ridge Trail with its amazing views overlooking the Hawkesbury River, via Little Patonga Beach all the way to Little Wobby Wharf where we will catch the iconic heritage listed Brooklyn Ferry. This ferry journey to Brooklyn will be one of the many highlights of this Hike.

We will spend the second night at the Brooklyn Dam Campsite.

On the final day, we will go around the Brooklyn Dam and then walk via Jerusalem Bay to Cowan Station. This last segment is part of the famous Great North Walk. Finally, we will catch the train back to West Ryde Station and home sweet home.

The hike will meander through pristine bushland, delightfully secluded beaches, and have many vantage points of the picturesque Hawkesbury River and its islands. Please see the attached Hike Map.

If the weather is good, and the beaches and the water is enticing, the Scouts may decide to swim at one of the beaches.

1st Ermington Scouts can provide a Hiking Backpack, shared tent and stove if required. Please see the attached packing list.

Scouts are welcome to register; however, previous lightweight camping, bushwalking experience, and good fitness are required. OAS Camping Stage 3, Bushwalking Stage 3 and above is required.

Attendence at the following preparatory sessions are mandatory:

  1. Online planning session on Monday 23/03 @ 8:00pm.
  2. In-person bag check/weighing session on Monday 30/03 @ 7:30pm at the 1st Ermington Scout Hall.
