Brief Summary:
The South Met Adventurous Activities Team have put together a special morning just for beginner ins. It’s a fun and easy paddle designed to give Joey's and Cubs a taste of canoeing while helping them achieve their OAS Level 1. No experience needed – just a sense of adventure.
Additional Information

This session is perfect for Joeys and Cubs with little or no paddling experience. Join us on the calm waters of the Hacking River for a fun and easy morning paddle – and get signed off for Paddling OAS Level 1 (and parts of Level 2).

What they’ll do: Learn the basics of a canoe trip Practice water safety and river signals Enjoy a short canoe journey across the river and up Muddy Creek (around 1 hour on the water) The main goal is to build confidence, have fun, and enjoy time on the water.

What to bring:

Swimmers

sun-safe shirt & pants

hat

sunblock

Towel

 insect repellent

water bottle

snack for morning tea

Spare clothes to wear home (in case they get wet)

Fully enclosed water shoes are a must (sneakers that can get wet are fine; Crocs are not acceptable)

 

What’s provided: Canoes, paddles, and PFDs (lifejackets) Other details: Youth can attend without their section leader In the case of storms or strong winds, the event will be cancelled and refunds issued
