Additional Information

This Bushwalking Workshop is open to Leader & Rovers of Sydney North Region. 

This workshop is aimed to provide training to Leaders and Rovers for bushwalking tracked or bushwalking difficult tracked qualifications. There are no pre-requisits for attending this workshop and those with existing skills are welcome to attend.

Walk Grade – This walking workshop will be graded easy to medium (Walking track Grade 3). Some guidance on this level of walk is:

For a person of average fitness if you can push a shopping trolley around “Big Fresh”, you can do an “easy walk”. If you run up stairs 2 at a time you are probably better than “medium” .

Walk Location - TBA. This may incur additional cost for camping

Equipment you will need -

  • Lightweight camping equipment (sleeping bag & mat, tent, change of clothes, cooking equipment)
  • Baseplate compass
  • First Aid Kit
  • Map case (A4 or bigger)
  • Walking shoes/boots
  • Clothing appropriate to weather
  • Wet weather clothing
  • Sunscreen & Hat
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Food
  • Whistle
  • (If you have one) Emergency beacon or satellite communicator
  • Mobile phone
  • Water
  • Backpack

A full list of equipment will be supplied and equipment reviewed and discussed at the 14th June workshop session.

Other Items

You will need a bushwalking logbook. A logbook template can be downloaded from the bottom of the SNR Bushwalking page - https://sydneynorthscouts.com/activities/bushwalking-peak-team/

You will need to fill in the workbook and bring to the overnight walk on 28th & 29th June.

There is an option for those just doing TP Tracked bushwalking qualification to just do the Saturday 28th June walk and not the full overnight walk.
