ANZAC Day Sleepover
(For Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers only)
- Meeting Point: 1/2 Merrylands Scout Hall
- Time: 6:00 PM
- Cost: $10 for pizza, etc.
- Dress Code: Casual clothes or warm PJs
What to Bring:
- FULL formal uniform (on a hanger, ready to change into for the Dawn Service)
- Black shoes
- Jumper/warm coat
- Card and board games
- Single air mattress, bedroll, or stretcher
- Sleeping bag
- Pillow
We’ll complete some activities together before getting some sleep and then attending the Dawn Service.
Note: we will all be sleeping in the hall in segregated areas based on age and gender - this is to ensure we are all up early for the Dawn Service.
ANZAC Day Schedule (all welcome from Joeys - Rovers):
- 4:30 AM – Wake-up and change into formal uniform
- 5-minute walk to Dawn Service location (Charles Mance Reserve, Newman St)
- 5:00 AM – Arrive at Merrylands RSL Club
- 5:30 AM – ANZAC Day Dawn Service (Charles Mance Reserve, Newman St)
- We will be laying a wreath
After the service, we’ll return to the hall for some rest, pack up, and clean up before heading to Club Merrylands Bowling.
- 2-minute walk to Club Merrylands Bowling
- 9:00 AM – Breakfast at Club Merrylands Bowling (free for Scout members; Bambi will provide a voucher)
- 10:30 AM – ANZAC Ceremony at Club Merrylands Bowling (we will lay a wreath)
- 11:00 AM – Event concludes
Pick-up Location: Club Merrylands Bowling
Important Notes:
All cars should be moved from the hall to Club Merrylands Bowling.
For those not driving, gear will be stored in Rovers’ & Leaders’ cars and can be collected before pick-up.
You can choose to join us for any or all parts of the event:
- Sleepover (6:00 PM, 1/2 Merrylands Hall) *Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers only
- Dawn Service (5:30 AM, Charles Mance Reserve)
- Breakfast (9:00 AM) followed by ANZAC Ceremony (10:30 AM, Club Merrylands Bowling)
You’re welcome to stay overnight or attend only the parts that suit you.
Note: Breakfast is free for uniformed members, but there is an expectation you stay for the ANZAC Ceremony, too.
