Brief Summary:
The 1st Ermington Scout Group is organising this Mount Colah to Cowan 3 Days, 2 Night hike to support a Scout completing her Adventurous Journey for the Australian Scout Award during the April School Holidays. This activity is planned and led by a youth working for the Peak Award. The activity will start from and end at Epping Station.
Additional Information

This hike begins at Epping Station, where Scouts will catch a train to Mount Colah Station. Passing through Tunks Ridge Campground (lunch stop), scouts will walk through Berowra National Park until Crosslands Campsite, which is the first night’s camping stop. On the second day, scouts will continue on from Crosslands through the National Park, stopping first at Naa Badu Lookout for lunch and then at Ridge Top Campsite for the night. On the third day, scouts will travel from Ridge Top to Cowan, stopping for lunch on the way or in town. The hike will end at Epping Station.

The hike will meander through pristine bushland, and have many vantage points of the picturesque Berowra Creek.

1st Ermington Scouts can provide shared tents, stoves and Emergency gear. A hiking backpack can also be provided if required. Please see the attached packing list.

In addition to the items in the packing list, Opal card with $15 credit, as well as an extra $15 or so for a possible lunch in Cowan or at points along the walk.
Wear: Enclosed shoes, hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, and suitable clothing for a bushwalk and anticipated weather.

Scouts are welcome to register; however, previous lightweight camping, bushwalking experience, and good fitness are required. OAS Camping Stage 3, Bushwalking Stage 4 and above is required.

Attendence at the following preparatory sessions are mandatory:

  1. Online planning session on Monday 07/04 @ 8:00pm.
  2. In-person bag check/weighing session and gear food distribution on Monday 21/04 @ 8:00pm at the 1st Ermington Scout Hall.

Note: There is a $20 deposit that will need to made and paid prior to the hike into the 1st Ermington Bank Account via Bank Transfer. Details will be sent in due course. The cost of food and incidentals will be known closer to the event date and will be notified during the Online Theory session. The deposit will be offset agains any such expense.

This hike will be remotely supervised by Scout Leaders.
