Introduction to Ski/Snowshoeing Touring

Aim: To introduce participants to ski/snowshoeing touring. 

Who: Venturers, Rovers and Leaders, with a sound knowledge of overnight bushwalking who are looking for the next challange. 

When: Friday 15th August to Sunday 17th August 2025

Where: Northern End of Kosciuszko Natinal Park (location to be confirmed subject to Snow Conditions)

Friday, night meet and stay overnight at 1st Cooma Scout Hall, 9 Babin Place Cooma (up little lane)

Saturday, park car at Goldseekers car park near Mt Selwyn. Ski/snowshoe to campsite next to a hut.

Sunday, ski/snowshoe out . 

What:  Saturday 5-10 km Ski/snowshoe. 

Sunday 5-10 km Ski/snowshoe return.    

Cost: All participates $20. (1stCooma overnight stay fee)

Administration / logisitics:

  • Transport, Park entry, food, and gear hire are NOT included in the price
  • Catering will not be supplied. This is a self-catered trip, as coordinated between patrol / tent members.
  • It is important that all participances have adequate fitness and skill level for the trip. That said, this will be a basic easy trip.
  • The correct gear is important for an enjoyable trip. Participants will be responsible for their own gear. Telemark, AT gear or snowshoes are required. Tents must be 4 seasons. We will have a gear shakedown at 1st Cooma Scout Hall prior the trip
