Brief Summary:
The Adventurous Activities Team have created a funa and challenging overnight trip paddling from Grays Point to Bonnie Vale Camp ground. This is an opportunity to progress OAS for paddling and camping for Scouts. The paddle could take up to 4 hours depending on conditions, therefore only strong scouts should sign up. There will be a session on safety and rescues prior to the event, attendance is recommended.
Additional Information

Qualified members of the Activities Team will run this weekend program for Scouts. 

Participants must wear fully enclosed Water shoes (or sneakers that can be wet). Crocs are not acceptable. 

 

Canoes, Paddles and PFDs will be provided.  

 

In the case of storms or strong winds, the event will be postponed to a later date to be decided by the admin.  

 

Participants to bring: 

  • whistle 

  • any medication you require 

  • sunscreen 

  • insect repellant

  • hat 

  • morning tea x1 

  • Afternoon Tea x2 

  • Breakfast (Sunday) 

  • Lunch (Sunday) 

  • Dinner (Light weight camp dinner for Saturday night) 

  • water bottle with at least 1.5 litres for the paddle 

  • sunsafe clothing (long sleeves recommended) 

  • wear fully enclosed shoes that will get wet (no crocs, thongs etc) 

  • clothes to change into if you get wet, and/or for sleeping/travelling home in 

  • Items for an overnight self-catered camp. Similar to if you were doing an overnight hike - keep in mind that you gear is travelling over water and you may capsize.  

  • Dry bags or small barrels are a required and will be discussed with your leaders. 

  • Headlamp

 

Facilities at camp ground: Unpowered site, Picnic tables, barbecue facilities, drinking water, showers, toilets
