Brief Summary:
Saturday 07 September 2024 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday 08 September 2024 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Location: Waitara Scout Hall, 80 Palmerston Rd, Hornsby. Cost $27.50 The Scout Leadership Course is run at a local District level, designed for Scouts who have achieved their Level 1 Milestone. It has content suitable for 12 and 13 year old Scouts who are keen to develop their skills to become leaders in their Scout Unit. The course has a practical hands-on approach and is organised around the Patrol System. Please ensure you advise your Scout Unit leader you are attending. Sessions covered on the Course include: Leadership Problem Solving and Task Management Planning/Programming While at the course you may be required to assist by running an indoor or outdoor game or activity – please be prepared for either. On Sunday we will be having an SYC – Scout Youth Council meeting,. This is an opportunity for scouts to bring their ideas or issues on Scouting to a higher level than their normal troops. Please have a think about, or talk with your troops about, any ideas or issues you have with Scouting in general and bring them on Sunday. Please note that full attendance is compulsory. As topics are covered only once in the weekend, you MUST be there for the whole course: NO SPORT LEAVE. Food will NOT be provided, please bring all your own requirements - morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on Saturday, and morning tea on Sunday. Please bring any utensils required, and a water bottle. We will try to run as many activities outside as possible, but weather and other considerations may require indoor activities. You should wear full scout uniform - including a hat - both days. Remember to apply sunscreen. On the Sunday you will be asked to meet your patrol at a railway station near Hornsby and follow an adventure trail back to the hall. More details will be given on the Saturday of the course. You will need to have a valid Opal card for the train and a face mask to wear on the platforms and train if required. Bring a day pack with a drink and rain jacket, and morning tea and a pen and paper.
