Additional Information

One registration, 2 paddles.
Day 1, Feb 18 2024: This session will be around Hen and Chicken bay. We will meet and finish at Drummoyne Hall, where the kayaks are stored. Meet at 9.30AM finish around 4PM. Bring water, lunch and nibbles and change of clothes. We will be getting in the water. The aim for this session is to refresh rescue and maneuvering skills that will be needed on the open ocean during the 2nd session.

Day 2, Feb 25 2024: We will paddle from Barrenjoey Beach, around Barrenjoey Head, visit the seals and experience the open ocean. If time and weather permits, we could go to Lion Island. Meeting point and time will be discussed during the first session, but it will be a full day. You must have attended session 1 to participate.

There are not pre requirements for this activity. Hoewver, note that attendance to session 1 is mandatory but doesn't automatically qualify you to paddle on Day 2, a minimum set of skills is required to be perfomed with certain proficiency to attend the open ocean day. Depending on how much experience you have and how fast you learn if you can pick up the skills in just 1 day.

Single kayaks and its gear will be provided. Bring water and proper clothing to get wet and change. Something to eat to recover energy.

Wear proper shoes or similar to get wet, not thongs or crocs.

Opportunities to advance in OAS Paddling and kayaking qualifications. Discuss with activity leader prior to the event.

If you want to bring your own kayak, consult the activity coordinator emailing a photo of the kayak you want to use.

I will need help transporting kayaks to/from launching site, car with roof racks or tow bar to tow trailer.
